Introduction

Have you ever wanted to know more about how special penguins are? Your quest is to learn some amazing facts about penguins. On this fascinating adventure, you will gather information about different kinds of penguins and their habitat, diet, and special features. Your job is to complete each task below.

The Task & Process

You may work alone or in a small group on the computer, using the Internet, to investigate the life of a penguin. Use the Resource list of website links to gather facts about penguins. You will then use the Penguin Worksheet to record the information you find. Decide which penguin is your favorite and why.

Task 1

Use the World Wide Web to gather information about penguins.

Task 2

Use the Penguin Worksheet to record three facts about each penguin. Turn in your completed sheet to your teacher.

Task 3

Use the printed Penguin Data Form to make up 10 questions about your favorite penguin. (Don't forget to write down the name of your favorite penguin) See if your partner can answer them.

Task 4

Using your printed Penguin Story Page and your completed Penguin Data Form, write a story about your favorite penguin. Include at least 5 facts and the reason you chose this penguin.

Task 5

Choose a computer application like ClarisWorks to publish your story.

Remember to:

  • Use complete sentences
  • Use correct punctuation
  • Spell words correctly
  • Have accurate information

Present your finished project to an audience.
