The beautiful Lower Zambezi National Park is located on the northern bank of the Zambezi River in southern Zambia. It is adjacent to the Manna Pools National Park of Zimbabwe. Although the park is open to visitors all the year round, there are no facilities. Thus visitors need to carry their own food, water, fuel, camping gear and all supplies. Malaria poses a threat and visitors must also take measures to protect themselves against dangerous animals while camping. It is also said that land mines planted during the Rhodesian Bush War are still lying around. The wildlife in the park includes the lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, hippo and a variety of antelopes.
