Ancient Civilizations: Egypt


Painted pottery, furniture, bone and ivory combs and jewellery show that they were already aware of the value of beauty. As the decorations on the pots grew more and more complicated, they began to develop into pictograms, which later became hieroglyphics.

The first kings possibly were crowned around this time, but the first king of unified Egypt probably ruled between 3150 and 3110 BC. 1     2     3
