The legend of 'Tangkuban Parahu'
Once
upon a time there was a prince named Dayang Sumbi. In one afternoon, Dayang Sumbi was
weaving; suddenly
her ball of thread fell down. Because she was too lazy to get it herself, she declared
that if there was
a man who could take it for her, he would make him her husband, but if it was a woman, she
would make her as
her sister.
After
she declared her announcement, a male dog namely Tumang took the ball of thread to
her. She was very
shocked to realize that she had to marry the dog. But the dog transformed itself into a
handsome man. In
fact, the dog is a god. So, they were married and had a boy namely Sangkuriang.
