Thinking with Technology
Module 2 - Aligning Projects with Assessment Standards

Module 2 Summary

Review the central ideas of this module and the materials or ideas that you have created that can be used in your classroom, instruction, or planning to help improve learning.

Module 2 Key Points:

  • Projects concentrate on scenarios that provide rich learning opportunities. They involve learners in problem solving investigations and other meaningful tasks. Projects establish connections to life outside the classroom and address real-world concerns.

  • The steps for designing projects include:

    • Determining specific learning goals (from assessment standards and higher-order thinking skills)
    • Developing Curriculum-Framing Questions
    • Making an assessment plan
    • Designing activities
Accomplishments:
  • Identified assessment standards for my project
  • Set up my Teacher Workspace at the Intel® Education Web site
  • Explored a project-approach to learning and determined my priorities for project design
  • Considered additional positive and negative influences that affect thinking - from the perspective of a teacher

In the following modules, we will build upon these concepts as we discuss ways we can support and encourage higher-order thinking skills through the use of assessment standards-based projects.
