Intel’s ‘She Will Connect’ Program reaches 5 million African Women
The Intel® ‘She Will Connect’ program was launched in September 2013 with the aim of reducing the internet gender gap and reaching 5 million women in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa over five years.

During the October school break, we provided professional development to 32 interns who are based in Tshwane West schools. The intention of this session was to equip interns with some strategies and resources for supporting teachers and learners to make better use of digital tools. Over two days, interns tried their hand at technical trouble shooting, practiced their presentation skills, completed the Hour of Code (and learnt how to facilitate this at their schools) and worked on collaborative documents.

We have been providing a pathway of professional development courses to KwaZulu-Natal GET subject advisors. The aim of these sessions has been to equip subject advisors with the skills to support teachers to make better use of digital tools as teaching and learning resources. On Monday 1 October 2018, ten top performing high school learners were recognised for their achievements in the South African Computer Programming Olympiad at a gala dinner held at the Standard Bank Auditorium. Of these learners, the top four programmers recently attended the International Olympiad for Informatics which took place in September in Japan.
