each route. You will now make your
decision. |
Follow these steps to
explain your
choice. |
Prewriting:
Step 1 Write a topic sentence you believe
in. |
Example
The western route is
better than the Ohio route or the eastern
route. |
Step 2 Look at your table of the four (or more) reasons
why your route is the best for your
family. |
Step 3 Find two to three details that prove that your
route is the best. |
Writing:

Step 4 Write your first paragraph.
a. Start with a general
sentence about slavery and the Underground Railroad
movement. b.
Write an introductory sentence about each
route. |
Step 5 Add a transitional sentence. It will link your
sentences about each route to your topic
statement. |
