Conflict Yellowstone Wolves is an inquiry oriented activity that places students in the position to ask great questions, develop new relationships, and take a stand on a current hot issue. This Web-based activity is part of a larger project: Planet Earth. If you are currently using the project with your students, or studying the WebQuest concept, I would enjoy hearing from you. Please take a second and sign the guest book. For more information on Conflict Yellowstone Wolves, and several similar projects. Visit: Grading Rubric: A rubric has been developed to help "set the target" for the student editorials. Pre-Write: This activity helps students balance perspectives, scaffold their learning, and write an effective editorial. Teacher Note: The classroom teacher should be prepared to help their students properly evaluate the replies. "Things take longer than they do." That seems to be the motto when doing student-centered activities. Below you will find a possible 7-day timeline. If you decide dedicate your entire class time to the project, you should be able to finish Conflict Yellowstone Wolves in 7-days. Many teachers have decided to run the project concurrently with their already established classroom curriculum. This may extend the timeline. DAY ONE - TWO: Investigate Wolf Behavior DAY Three - FOUR: Research the Yellowstone Wolf Reintroduction Program DAY FIVE: Define and analyze the current problem from different perspectives Day SIX - Seven: Develop a solution, Pre-Write, Email Here are a few resources that you may need to complete the project. Netscape 4.0 Project Design: Keith Nuthall Once again, I have grabbed onto Tom March's coat tails. His guidance is greatly appreciated. Tom and Bernie Dodge are the creators of the WebQuest concept. Thanks guys! Contributing Organizations/People: The Wolf People
