Now it's time to put your learning into some real world activities. Choose one or more of the following ideas to follow up on your learning:

1.  Write a letter to your local newspaper or your local Member of Parliament outlining your views on the topic of bowhead whale hunting.  Give reasons for your opinion. Ask permission from your teacher and your parents before you mail or email it to the newspaper. Be sure to proofread it!

2.  Write or email a letter to students in an Arctic school. Communities such as Resolute Bay and Pangnirtung have been involved in recent hunts and students there might have a unique perspective on these issues.

Check out these northern school web sites:

Joamie School, Iqaluit, Nunavut

Kugaardjuq School, Kugaaruk, Nunavut

3.  Visit the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society Homepage . Consider whether you and your classmates might want to adopt a whale to help with the education and conservation of these creatures.

4. Join your local "Walk for Whales and Dolphins".  Check the Whale and Dolphin Society Walk page to see if there is one in your area.
