The Bishop

Bishops move diagonally, always moving on the same colored squares. The game begins on with them on c1 and f1 for White, and c8 and f8 for Black. Each player starts with a 'black-squared Bishop' and a 'white-squared Bishop.'

The Bishop on a4 has captured the Black Rook on c2. Black has moved his Bishop from d7 to g4. In chess notation, these moves would be Bxc2 and Bg4.
