Peer Coaching

Getting Started - Preparing Coaches for Online Learning

From this point on you will be preparing to be a coach, but in this session activity we will also prepare you for the e-learning part of this course. Refer to the Peer Coaching Programme at a Glance during this activity for an outline of the rest of the course.

Getting Started

We will refer to all learning activities that do not take part in a face-to-face meeting as "e-learning". You will be participating in these types of "e-learning" activities after today's face-to-face session:

  • self-study - you will read session notes and view any documents or vidoes that may be linked to these notes.
  • buddy support - you will work with other peer coaches from your school or immediate district, arrange a time to meet and participate together, as pairs or small groups, in self-study sessions.
  • school support - you will work with your school management to communicate your progress and discuss issues arising from your learning as a peer coach.
  • online discussion - you will work together online with all the peer coaches in your group and your peer coach facilitator, participating in discussions. You will use Canvas for these discussions.
  • online conversations - you may go to the Inbox on Canvas and connect to any individual peer coach(es), your faclitator or the whole group and conduct a text conversation.
  • online document sharing - you will also use the Conversations to attach and share documents with the group. In this case you send a message to the whole group.
  • online assignments - you will be required to submit completed documents at times to show evidence of your progress during the self-study phase.
  • eportfolio - this is a portfolio which operates like a blog. You will save resources and write notes there.
