This morning I had an email from Mary Hacking from Grove Primary in Cape Town reminding me of the Google Online Conference on 8th and 9th May and saying how much she enjoyed yesterday’s presentations: https://educationonair.withgoogle.com/live/2015-may. When you open this website you’ll see the times for your own country, which is amazing! I discovered that in South Africa we operate with SAST – South African Standard Time!
There are plenty of options with this conference. You can narrow it down to exactly what you would like to listen to. The conference extends all day till 9pm in different slots.
Today’s conference is from 1:00pm – 3:30pm. Why not join in. There’s a great variety of inspiring presentations on offer, all free! This will also give you the opportunity to see how Google Hangouts can work for live conferences online. There are so many great choices today – I don’t know one is going to decide!
For example here is something for the Foundation Phase – Help students become creators with Google Chrome by Greg Lawrence. he says. “Students and teachers are spending more time on the web than ever. In this session we will dive into the world of web apps that give primary grade-level (K-2) students the ability to create, not just consume. We will discover Chrome apps & websites for producing video, recording audio, and editing pictures.”
I notice something by Matt Miller from the ‘Ditch that textbook’ blog http://DitchThatTextbook.com: He is speaking on ‘Ditch that textbook with Google Apps’ and says: “How can teachers leave their textbooks behind and revolutionize their classrooms with a more paperless environment? This session will show how Google Apps can play a big part in creating a digital classroom and providing an education that’s relevant to students.”
Best is these sessions all have an “Access session materials” link. This is a feast! See you online later maybe at https://educationonair.withgoogle.com/live/2015-may/day2/ec080
