Yesterday I received an email from Kottie Christie-Blick in New York. She mentions a very interesting opportunity for a South African teacher.  This is what she says: 

“I enjoyed my time living in South Africa and visiting the schools. I’m now back in New York and am working on two projects that may be of interest to your South African teachers. One is an interactive website my students and I recently created to provide an audience for children to talk about climate change. It’s seeing traffic in the USA. Now we’d like it to go global – such an important global issue! I built the site, and moderate all the comments, so no inappropriate material appears on the site. It’s geared to the 9-13-year-old child: kidsagainstclimatechange.com

Secondly, if a teacher who is using the site with her/his students is interested, I’m forming a small international team of educators to join me in co-presenting at the National Association for Gifted Children Annual Conference at Disney World, Florida, USA, next November. Sadly, I have no funding to offer, but it is one of the most prestigious organizations in American education, so it would be a real feather in the cap of any educator who is accepted to speak at their conference. See attached announcement. (If you’d like me to re-type a version of the announcement I posted on Fulbright Minds for your newsletter I can do that.) Fiona, if you would be interested in joining our group of presenters at NAGC, that could be arranged as well. It’s always an interesting conference, with lots of inspiring ideas.

I know your teachers are on summer holidays, but the proposal deadline is January 27th, so I need to submit it soon. Let me know your thoughts.
