Virginia Mbengeni

Our #followfriday #fridayfeature #meetourstaff staff champion is a person who fell in love with working with learners through SchoolNet SA, a patient and humble soul, who aims to make a difference everyday, Virginia Mbengeni. Virginia has been working for SchoolNet for a year now, and she is enjoying every moment as a Digital Support Specialist based in Winterveld High School, Pretoria. Virginia assists teachers and learners understand how to use Technology in their personal and professional journey and also make sure they implement ICT in classrooms and they must become the best users of Technology.

When asked what she likes most about working for SchoolNet she said:

”SchoolNet SA is a lovely environment to work in, the staff members are peaceful and loving, SchoolNet provides space to grow professionally and personally. SchoolNet SA allows me to engage and interact with different people through workshops and training, It helps to boost my confidence level. Allowing me to engage with school learners has made a big change in my life, at first I thought I wouldn’t enjoy being around learners, however, I have made improvements on how I engage, encourage, Inspire with learners. We help each other by empowering one another with skills such as collaboration, communications and problem solving skills.’’

When we asked her to point out her favourite SchoolNet project, she said:

‘’I love all of SchoolNet SA projects as they all touch lives in a unique way, however my favorite is the one I’m currently working on at school as being a digital support specialist  for Telkom Connected School, connecting teachers and learners to the world of technology.

It’s not a project, however I love making differences in each learner and teacher I work with, it completes me as a person, I become balanced and happy. There is nothing exciting like seeing the excitement technology brings in learners, and inspiring them to aspire to have a career in the Technology/ICT field. Now that the fourth industrial revolution is taking place in our country, whichever way we teach the learners, learners pass on their 4IR knowledge to their parents and we build a digital community.’’

So, what does she want to achieve this year?

‘’This year I intend to get my drivers license, it’s long overdue. I want to continue with my studies and finish up my IT Comptia A+’’.
