What is the Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace?

This is a new education solution that provides access to a vast repository of free and low-cost digital text books and learning resources. The aim of the Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace

Intel’s, Turkey Middle East and Africa Business Manager, Cigdem Ertem, says the aim of the Explore and Learn marketplace solution is to provide a resource hub where learners can find relevant content to enrich their studies while at the same time providing content providers access to a platform enabling them to easily share their rich learning content.

The content provided matches the South African education curriculum, ensuring that the material is relevant and accurate while providing a user-friendly, interactive and engaging learning experience to students and teachers. The solution is the result of the collaboration between Intel and Rancard, an African-based organisation that provides cloud-based software for mobile content discovery and delivery.

The introduction of the Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace solution represents another step in Intel’s foray into digital education, with Ertem saying the company is continually looking for ways to partner and collaborate with government, educational institutes and content creators.

“As a company that’s been active in the education space for the last 40 years globally, we’ve seen how technology can drive clearly improved learning results and assist teachers by providing access to information and quality engaging content,” said Ertem. “We’re well aware of the challenges our education system faces. Through this solution, we’re aiming to empower the youth, learners and students of South Africa to improve their knowledge and build skills, and in the process, change their lives.”

Ertem said Intel Explore and Learn was designed to benefit all stakeholders of the education community, including teachers and parents. “We hope educators will find this app of as much use as the students, and use it reinforce their teaching. Technology itself will never be the solution; it is just a tool to help teachers empower our students.”

Where can we access it?

Students and educators can gain access to the Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace solution on Android or Windows devices with an internet connection. Users can visit www.intel.com/exploreandlearn  to access the app download page. Once the app is downloaded, they can find and acquire free and paid for textbooks, instructional videos and exam preparation materials to help them succeed in their studies.

Download the content as you need it for offline use

The Intel Explore and Learn Marketplace solution itself is not a big download size. The content thereafter is downloaded as needed by the learner/ user. This strategy aims to minimise the file sizes of downloads for learners, aiding in ensuring low, inexpensive bandwidth costs.

Once study material is downloaded, the files are easily accessible offline at any time, on the device the user has downloaded it to.
