Microsoft Math – a free, not-to-be-ignored service via a smartphone for Grade 10-12 Maths students in South Africa

At the end of 2014 Nokia Maths changed its name to Microsoft Math after Microsoft bought out Nokia.  This is a not-to-be ignored site for Grade 10-12 learners to help them after hours with their Maths and it can be accessed at https://math.microsoft.com. This site is totally free.

How will this benefit Grade 10-12 Maths students?

This is a site for Grade 10-12 Maths students to use after hours either in groups or individually to revise and improve their Maths content and get help with any queries. Learners can use their smartphones or via a desktop, laptop or tablet.

Microsoft Math can really assist our South African Math learners. It is a great tool for enriching the learning and teaching experiences outside of classrooms and after school hours. There are thousands of maths exercises, theory explanations, examples, and tests provided. Teachers can set assignments and homework for their class directly from the service, with the ability to better track students’ skill levels, and to motivate them further.

You’ll find over 9000+ quizzes. Exercises are divided into levels of difficulty. When you master a set of quizzes you will move up on a level. There is 10 levels in each sub-topic. There is plenty of theory to help one along and examples to work through.

Advantages of the Microsoft Math programme?

One of the great advantages of this program is that learners can set up their own study groups with friends and see how they are doing or compete with each other!

If you are a Grade 10-12 Maths teacher and your students haven’t yet signed up, make this service known to them. Encourage them to sign up this week! All they have to do is visit https://math.microsoft.com and register. If you are someone who knows of students who are studying Maths let them know about this opportunity just in case they aren’t aware of it.
