SchoolNet South Africa in partnership with Dr. Ron Beyers from the Young Engineers and Scientists of South Africa offered a free Coding and Robotics workshop during the June school holidays. This workshop was designed for teachers who wanted to explore the exciting world of coding and robotics, whether they were a beginner, intermediate, or expert level. Teachers got an opportunity to learn the basics of coding through Scratch (block coding) and learning how to integrate coding and robotics into the curriculum using project-based learning approaches. The training also focused on teaching pedagogies that enable learners to think critically and solve problems through collaboration.
Here are the coolest scratch projects from the workshop:
1. Thabo Kubayi – Mautswi Primary School (Limpopo)
2. Neria Mengwai – Palmridge Primary School (Gauteng)
3. Lerato Kgogome – Boshoek Primary School (North West)
4. Malebese Ishmael Sello – Poguti-Maribulla Primary School (Limpopo)
5. Samukelisiwe Hlomuka – Johannes Kananda Primary School (Mpumalanga)
