Today we honour and remember our late colleague, Mr Saul Pila for his amazing work and contribution in the ICT in Education space as our #throwbackthursday. You may be gone but your hard work and dedication will forever live with us. Saul started on the e-learning journey with SchoolNet South Africa back in the early 2000s. Since then his engagement in Teacher Professional Development and Training, as well as with our hundreds of teachers throughout the country have been invaluable. His contribution to online and digital learning is a foundation for all who come after him.

The late Mr Saul was part of the Adobe Youth Voices Project, where he worked with learners to highlight social injustice and focussed on the topic of Bullying in Schools. Saul attended Adobe Master training through IEARN and then implemented a project with learners in the community https://youtu.be/VWBP9xpLXh8

He qualified as a master trainer for Peer Coaching, a programme aimed to provide teachers with opportunities to collaborate as peers using a mentoring and coaching methodology to explore ways in which learning can be enhanced with the support of ICT. Saul was instrumental in facilitating workshops across South Africa as a Microsoft Partners in Learning Facilitator and Senior Intel Trainer responsible for a number of community projects that ensured that Teachers actively engaged in ICT Integration professional development activities.

He highlighted the need for out of school youth to engage in Digital Learning and facilitated sessions on the Intel She Will Connect Project, an international programme designed to provide basic digital literacy skills and entrepreneurship training for women and girls as well as small businesses.

We will miss your hugs and smile at all our conferences and will hold you in our hearts and continue your legacy… Until we meet again!
