The Ciena Solutions Challenge is a global design challenge inviting middle and high school students (aged 11-19) to design solutions to real problems and take action to build a better world. The Ciena Solutions Challenge invites students around the world to use Challenge Based Learning to design solutions that address the Sustainable Development Goals, a universal call to action to create a better world.

Throughout the Challenge, Digital Promise and Ciena will offer professional learning and mentoring opportunities for educators and students as they reach their Challenge solution. Challenge teams may design anything from a product or device, a campaign or piece of media, physical space or environment, an experience, a system, or something else that leverages digital tools and technologies.

Submissions opened on September 15, 2021, and will close on January 10, 2022.
