Mental Health and Well-Being of Teachers Webinar by SchoolNet South Africa

Dear Friends,

With October being Teacher Appreciation Month, SchoolNet South Africa is running a campaign #SupportOurTeachers. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of building strong support structures for teachers to be confident when using technology.

However, the question of teacher well-being cannot be separated from the conversation of building strong support structures for teachers. For this reason, SchoolNet South Africa will be hosting a webinar that looks at the mental healthcare of teachers and provide them with resources that can assist them when they need a helping hand.

Not only is October Teacher Appreciation Month, but it is also a month dedicated to Mental Health Awareness, the two themes that are crucial for a functioning society. It is important to talk openly about mental health issues to educate, fight stigmatisation and find support when needed. For teachers who often contend with limited resources for teaching and learning, unfortunately, their mental healthcare does not rank high as a topic of discussion for themselves or for their colleagues

This webinar is one of the ways of showing appreciation to teachers as we try to find approaches to support their mental healthcare. Our celebration of teachers includes empowering them with skills and resources to be able to stand tall in front of the children they teach.

This conversation is a moment to pause and think about ways to support teachers and their mental healthcare.

Please join SchoolNet South Africa, Educator Wellness SA and South African Depression and Anxiety Group for a conversation about teachers and taking care of their mental health.
