The national Department of Basic Education, the provincial Department of Education in the Eastern Cape, The University of Fort Hare and the Commonwealth of Learning have partnered to implement the Commonwealth of Learning’s Teacher Futures programme. The programme aims to contribute towards the realisation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by focusing on teacher quality and developing scalable, national and cross-national teacher professional development models for improved learning outcomes.  Integral features of the Teacher Futures programme include: School Based Teacher Development, eLearning and Microlearning, and the role of technology and digital learning.
