Module 2 - Aligning Projects with Assessment Standards

Activity 2.1

Step 2: Identifying assessment standards

To lay the foundation for good project planning, take a look at your standards and identify those that need additional support in your classroom. Use the Intel® Education Help Guide if you need assistance in completing any ICT skills identified below.

  1. Go to the curriculum statements that contain the assessment standards. Links to each learning area / subject's assessment standards are available at: www.thutong.org.za

  2. Save the page for your learning area / subject's assessment standards in your Favorites.

  3. If the standards are available in PDF or text files, right-click the link and choose Save Target As, and save the file to your Project Folder.

  4. Scan your subject / learning area and grade level assessment standards for higher-order thinking words. What are some common patterns that you find? What do you notice.

  5. In your review of the assessment standards, are there any potential areas that you would like to cover better or more in-depth? Are there any areas that learners have a particularly difficult time understanding or that you have difficulty supporting? Are there any key sections that are currently just touched upon in your curriculum but need more support? If so, note them.
