Module 2 - Aligning Projects with Assessment Standards

Activity 2.1

Step 4: Creating Learning Goals

From the assessment standards you selected in the previous step, identify learning goals for your project. These activities should relate to what you want your learners to understand or demonstrate. You should prepare well-focused activities, rather than covering all concepts that might be addressed in your project. Create activities that focus on learning concepts with higher-order thinking, not on ICT usage skills. For instance, rather than "learners will create Microsoft PowerPoint* presentations," identify the benefit of the activity, such as "learners will create a persuasive presentation appropriate for the targeted audience."

From your assessment standards and your own high expectations, what do you want your learners to be able to know, do, or understand? As you create these activities, keep in mind the higher-order thinking skills you want to target.

Finally, type your initial set of activities into your Project Plan, under the Project Summary section.
