The park contains the Ras Dashen, which, at 4,602m above sea level, is Africa's fourth highest peak. Visitors can camp within the park. The most popular activity is trekking, and tourists can arrange trips of between three to ten days, building up to the climb of Ras Dashen. There is also a wide variety of wildlife in the park, including baboon, ibex, Simien fox. There are predatory birds like the lammergeyer, which is a rare sight.
