Arusha National Park

Located 32 kilometers from Arusha, the Arusha National Park is known to be one of the most beautiful parks in Tanzania. Visitors can easily go on day trips to the park from Arusha. There are three major attractions in the park. The first one is the Ngurdoto Crater, which is sometimes called "mini Ngorongoro." Secondly, there are the Momella lakes, which are shallow alkaline lakes which get their water from underground streams. Finally, there is the spectacular Meru Crater. Mount Meru is described as "one of the most rewarding mountains to climb in Africa." Visitors can climb the mountain, or organize walking safaris. The road network is mostly suitable even for saloon cars. Visitors can watch a variety of birds and animals like the buffalo, elephant, hippo, giraffe, zebra, antelope, blue monkey, black and white Colobus monkey, leopard, and hyena. The park also provides great views of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru on clear days. Visitors can find hotels in Arusha. Moreover, there are three campsites at Momela, plus a fourth one at Ngurdoto. There is a rest house and a lodge around Momela.
