Great, free 10 minute, online, spelling initiative in South Africa on Friday 27th October for primary and secondary learners – consider taking part…

Here is a message from Anthony Peters from Parklands College about an exciting free spelling initiative that takes place online on Friday 27th October 2017.  It sounds great!

“Hi all

I’m helping to spread an exciting initiative around South Africa and it has the ambitious aim of improving English literacy competence of individuals not just within South Africa but across the whole African continent! Spelling competitions are a big focus at the moment and there are four a year, one in each term.

The spelling test takes only 10 minutes to do (they are timed) so they do not cut into lesson time too significantly and they are completely free!

On 27 October between the hours of 08:00 – 15:00, please invite people to simply click on the link below and to fill in their details and then follow the instructions to take the spelling test relevant for their school level (e.g. Primary/Secondary).

As I mentioned earlier, the spelling test is completely free and the learners have a wonderful opportunity to win between R200 – R800 which is not bad for ten minutes of work! Book vouchers from Bargain Books are also on offer to the fastest correct spellers so it makes spelling a bit more fun and competitive for learners at the end of this busy year.

Please spread the word about this initiative to schools and English Departments and encourage as many people to participate as possible as it has grown into a successful national competition already in only a few years with hundreds having participated this yer alone.

Please see the below details for more information.

Many thanks in hopeful anticipation, all!”
