I have noticed that whenever upper primary school or Middle school students that I teach look for information on the Internet for an assignment, one of the first sites they visit is Wikipedia. Wikipedia is very often a student’s first port of call. The interesting thing about Wikipedia articles is that most if not all of them have references that one can check.

Microsoft Math is a free, online space where Grade 10-12 Mathematics students can improve their Maths in their own time. It has been adapted to our South African curriculum and can be accessed at. https://math.microsoft.com. This is a space where our South African Mathematics learners can practice, learn. collaborate and compete with one another using their smart phones after school hours. They can also use the program on a tablet or a laptop/desktop.

Have you heard of this free, live streaming app called Periscope? I have just downloaded it to my Samsung phone and can’t want to try it out. This live streaming video app was purchased by Twitter and it made its debut March 26, 2015.

Recently I discovered this great video-creation application called Animoto https://animoto.com. I was delighted to see that one could apply for a free six-month educator subscription and be allowed to add 50 students free via a code to create their own accounts. I took advantage of the offer!
